Prep Course Mathematics

This course is for ES, CS and DS students, as well as anyone else who would like to brush up on his or her knowledge of mathematics. It is held as an English alternative to the German "Vorkurs Mathematik". The course consists of lectures in the morning and exercises in the afternoon to practice the covered material.

Important: In preparation for the Prep Course and the studies ahead of you, we strongly recommend taking the MINTFIT Math test, which allows you to repeat the basics of school maths as often as you like, for example to fill in any gaps on the level of school maths or to bring specific questions to the Prep Course. The MINTFIT Math test is anoynomous and consists of 2 separate parts Basic Skills I and Basic Skills II, each of them takes about 45 minutes.
The Prep Course Mathematics will cover the following topics:
- Elementary Algebra
- Equations and Inequalities
- Trigonometry
- Differentiation and Integration
- Vectors and Systems of Linear Equations
- Analytic Geometry
- Logic and Proofs
In addition to the lectures, the web-based Online Mathematics Bridging Course (OMB+) is available. This allows you to consolidate and expand your knowledge of school mathematics before the start of your studies in October, with flexible time and topic allocation. It's worth it, because the more knowledge you bring with you, the more relaxed your start will be.
Alternatively, you can use the tool Bridge2MINT developped at our institute to recap the topics.
