Dear Participants of ISem 23,

We have just uploaded the tenth lecture, which you can find at the following link

https://www.mat.tuhh.de/veranstaltungen/isem23/_media/lecture_10.pdf

or in the forum.

In Lecture 10, we shall leave the context of partial differential equations shortly and return to ordinary differential equations with possibly infinite-dimensional state spaces. More precisely, we specialise the general evolutionary equation to the case when $A=0$ and $M(\partial_{t,\nu})=M_0+\partial_{t,\nu}^{-1}M_1$.

The general context of this lecture is thus gathered under the umbrella term `differential algebraic equation'. We will address initial value problems in both finite- as well as infinite-dimensional situations.

We profit a lot from interacting with you over the forum. This improves the narrative of the (final) lecture notes and turns the internet seminar into a more vivid process. We hope that you carry on posting as we are eager to learn and at points explain further the contents presented.

The exercises section in this week contains some application to electric circuits. We ask the team from Zagreb to provide solutions to the exercises for us to upload.

With Christmas approaching very soon, we take a break in providing lecture note material. We shall resume on Wednesday, the 8th of January 2020.

We wish you a great holiday season and `Guten Rutsch' as we say in Germany. We are looking forward to the final stretch of the internet seminar next year with new notions to come such as exponential stability, inhomogeneous boundary value problems, and homogenisation.

With the best regards,

the virtual lecturers
